Inklings are "humanoid races derived from cephalopods" that "can freely alternate between a weapon-wielding humanoid 'kid' form and a cepholopodic 'swim' form" — the shape-shift a human Inkling Mii can only hint at.
Splatoon's core mode, Turf War, has two teams of four competing to "spread their team's ink across as much of the floor space of the map as possible" — victory is measured in coverage, not kills.

It'll read as Inkling-inspired rather than a one-to-one copy.

How do I do Inkling tentacle hair on a Mii?

You can't do actual tentacles — Mii Maker has only human hairstyles. The trick is to pick the longest gathered ponytail style, which mimics the bunched-tentacle silhouette better than loose hair, then colour it a vivid ink shade. That's as close as an Inkling Mii gets to the tentacle look.
